Punk Cemetery: The Masque

Photobucket

The punk scene has never really appealed to me; too negative and just overall bad taste. I think of rotting teeth, apathy, green (a comical puke), pimples, bloody vagina, over processed hair (and not the impressive beehive of Amy Winehouse), herpes, migraines, incest, delusion and all things that freak me out in life. It's also funny how people defend it so much too. "It was an attitude, not style! The real punk was all about being yourself and not giving a fuck about what people think!".

Well, I'd like to report that i stumbled into what was once the Masque, a major factor in LA Punk Scene Histroy. Wikipedia says that every major player in the punk scene back in the late 70's came thru there, including but not limited to The Germs, The Go Go's, Black Flag and many other punk bands that i'm sure all you punk rockers know and love. It closed permanently in 1979 before being renovated in 2006 (by WOW i guess). I was shocked to see how almost nothing has changed in 30 years! It allowed me to relate in some odd way and to think...this is a piece of American History.
